Horn Has Record Breaking 3rd Quarter

Kendra Horn Earns Huge Fundraising Quarter

Total raised from July-September doubles already impressive numbers

OKLAHOMA CITY – Kendra Horn, Democratic nominee for Oklahoma’s Fifth Congressional District, raised more than $420,000 in the months of July through September, the final fundraising quarter before the fall election. With the support of thousands of Oklahomans, Horn nearly doubled her campaign’s entire previous fundraising effort of $442,000 for a combined total of over $860,000.

“It’s important to have the resources to mount a winning campaign, but it’s also important to restore common sense in democracy and faith in elections,” said Horn. “We got here with the support of over 5,000 contributions, and we didn’t take one cent from the special interests or corporate PAC’s that bankroll Steve Russell’s campaigns.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Congressman Steve Russell has taken over $1,000,000 from political action committees in his brief 4 year career[1].

“I’ll be accountable to Oklahomans, not out-of-state corporate insiders. I’m so grateful for the support of Oklahoma families, and will be their voice on issues like protecting insurance coverage for Oklahomans with pre-existing conditions and access to an affordable college education. My opponent’s votes in Congress have been the opposite.”

The Horn campaign’s quarterly result is the most successful quarter of any Oklahoma Democratic challenger in recent memory. Under the current boundaries of the 5th District, which was redrawn for the 2002 cycle, Horn’s third quarter alone was more than any previous Democratic nominee raised during their entire campaign.

Final reports for the third quarter will be filed with the Federal Election Commission on Oct. 15.
